Katherine Hopkins Druckman began her fascination with art and antiques at a young age. As a fourth generation porcelain collector she grew up with an appreciation for Asian and European ceramic art. After living with art her entire life, she chose to focus her career in the same direction. She earned a B.A. in art from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas before continuing to New York, New York to attend the Master of Arts program at the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts, Design, and Material Culture. While at Bard, Katherine focused her studies on European and Chinese Ceramics, with experience in complementary fields such as the history of Silver and Furniture. During her studies, she had the opportunity to study and research in New York, China, Japan, and England.
While in New York, she studied and researched with experts and scholars from institutions all over the world, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and Sotheby’s. She has visited numerous private collections, handled and studied collections the most prestigious museums, and researched in the archives of several major English ceramics factories, including Worcester, Minton, and Spode. With these experiences, Katherine gained a refined eye for fine objects that has served her very well.
Before forming Hopkins Antiques and Decorative Arts, Katherine honed her skills at Sotheby’s, and a prestigious New York Chinese art gallery. She now focuses her energy entirely on her own clients. Katherine is a member of the Ima Hogg Ceramic Circle in Houston, Texas, as well as the American Ceramic Circle.
