Cloisonné Tazza with Crane Motif, Chinese, 19th century.

This is a stunning example of cloisonné enamel, with a frieze of flying cranes amongst clouds and over waves. The concentric friezes decorating the upper surface surround a central medallion of leaping stags, with the middle frieze in a traditional lotus flower and foliage design. The underside is decorated with large flowers on a blue ground, which transitions to the stem with a border of ruyi heads. The foot is decorated with a similar lotus flower design as found on the interior surface of the tazza. This is a beautifully detailed piece, and the inclusion of cranes in the motif makes it particularly special.

The tazza is in excellent condition.

5 ¼” height.
